After a brilliant start to the season with a Yorkshire Cup victory, HRUFC now faces our first League fixture at home on Saturday -- against newly promoted neighbours Morley who were defeated 25-50 by Caldy last week [while we lost 31-22 at Preston] .

Meanwhile we have formally applied to Yorkshire to stage the county championship game against Cheshire for the Bill Beaumont Cup on May 7 here at Lockwood Park.

Away from rugby, all congratulations to our Bowling Club which hosted the Yorkshire Bowling Cup Final attended by more than 500 -- with much credit to groundsman John Lockwood for what has been described as "the perfect green". There is tribute too for the successful opening of the newly refurbished squash courts.

Other significant matters. Our energy contract has been changed from Southern to E.ON with a cost saving of 30%. The Business Network International organisation with about 40 members is now using our facilities for weekly breakfast meetings, all designed to promote local business interests worldwide. We have so far received about £1,400 from the sale of assets of the failed local radio station.

Finally ... a request that members and visitors recognise our clearly specified car parking areas reserved for the disabled who MUST in turn display their windscreen cards -- please!
