Like many other Northern clubs, our income has been hit hard by the December/January bad weather with games cancelled and even our Astroturf pitch affected by snow and hard frosts. Thus, our overheads costs are being managed with extreme caution and we have the benefit of the postponed matches being played in the new financial year (and hopefully, in better weather conditions!). Meanwhile, following the decision on incorporation of the club from 1st May 2011, a Finance Committee has been established under the Chairmanship of Geoff Neary and includes Derek Roberts, Richard Gudgeon, Paddy Walsh with Treasurer Dereck Tasker.
On a positive note, players lunches have been amazingly successful and £850 raised so far in a draw to fund replacement tines and shockwaving equipment for ground maintenance – with congratulations to Paddy Walsh here for his organisation! RFU Draw tickets worth £5,000 have been distributed which hopefully will benefit us further with YOUR support.
The annual dinner is scheduled for Friday, 4th March with guests including RFU President Richard Appleby, Yorkshire RFU President Richard Matthews and David Griffiths, former Chief Executive of Wembley Stadium.
Discussions have begun to decide which company will be given our new brewery contract starting 1st May, and here there are questions about guest beers and our prices per-pint.
Now a reminder for everyone – that the Road Runners’ 10km race is on Sunday, 27th February at 11am when about 500 visitors are expected at Lockwood Park.
