Dudley Kingswinford 2nd XI – 0
Huddersfield Falcons – 33
HRUFC’s Falcons impressively swept aside Dudley Kingswinford, scoring four second half tries to ensure the victory.
Despite some early pressure from the home side and Joe Shiel going off injured, Field resolute defence soon turned to attack.
Field look dangerous as played the ball wide throughout the half, without creating a clear cut chance.
It was this wide play that saw Field take the lead. After solid pressure on the Dudley defence, Field broke through on the left side to score through after 30 minutes.
This was to be the only score before half-time, but this soon changed after the restart.
Straight from the kick off, Field added to their lead through Elliot Knight. Dudley had struggled to get a handle on ball throughout the first half and this carried on to the second period as Knight combined well to score.
As Dudley failed to capitalise on their own chances, Field did the hosts no favours in punishing the holes in their defence. A scrum soon turned to a score as Henry Ward surely gave Huddersfield an unassailable lead.
Though not leaving anything to chance, Field continued to pile on the misery with another try. As Knight fought his way through tackles, he found himself brought down inches short of the goal line, only to find the supporting Giles Heatherington willing to finish the move.
Fields scoring was complete with two minutes to play as Luke Booth spread the play wide, which eventually found Knight to score again in the corner.
A comprehensive 33-0 win was the perfect way for the Falcons to bounce back from the Preston game and will give them a lot of confidence going into the new campaign.
