Huddersfield Junior Colts team put the icing on the cake of their league campaign with an excellent win 32-22 against a strong Yarnbury side, away from home, to confirm the Junior Colts Yorkshire League 2 title. The league was effectively won the week before, after ensuring they could not be caught.
Huddersfield’s league programme was excellent; winning all their home games and losing just one away at Pocklington, to partner a draw away at second placed West Park Leeds, to complete their 12 game league programme scoring 364 points and conceding 144 to give a positive points difference of some 220 points. This a result, at times of some truly breath taking running rugby.
As well as the Yorkshire two league title, the lads reached the Quarter Final of the National U17 competition, and a corresponding a Quarter final loss to eventual winners Olds Brods from top of Yorkshire league 1 in the Yorkshire Cup.
All round an massively successful season, maintaining a squad of 23 players, excellent numbers at twice weekly training and a memorable tour to Brussels! The Academy will start back up next season with a very healthy squad, for the lads to test themselves in the U19 league, whilst also ensuring the club is in safe hands with a number of first team prospects coming through.
