HRUFC have appointed Rob Leighton as the strength and conditioning coach for the season 2013-14.
Recently-appointed Head Coach Gareth Lewis will have highly recommended Leighton amongst his off field staff, as the club look to bounce back from relegation.
Leighton said: “After speaking to Gareth I knew HRUFC was the right fit for me, as we both want the same thing in terms of performance from the players.”
Though it is his first job in Rugby, Leighton comes with a packed CV and plenty of experience to offer the club. He has an outstanding track record, having worked in a number of national health and fitness centres.
Lewis said: “The experience Rob has is going to be invaluable. I know our players will benefit so much from his expertise. I have always been a big believer of fitness and conditioning to prepare for the on-field battles and this will certainly give us the edge we will need.”
Balancing his work as a personal trainer along with educating the team, Leighton’s experience working with the armed forces will help Field, as they prepare to do battle in the 2013/14 season.
Lewis added: “I’m hugely excited about being able to work with Rob knowing exactly what he will bring to the role. He’ll be a massive asset as we prepare for our off-season programme starting in July.”
Having previously worked as a fitness manager, Leighton will also bring excellent communication skills through one-on-one personal training, as well as a range of team work and management skills.
He said: “I’m looking forward to my new role at HRUFC. I’m ready for this challenge and really looking forward to getting started.”
