Bradford & Bingley – 15
Huddersfield – 39
Huddersfield maintained their perfect start to the season as they came from behind to beat Bradford & Bingley.
Despite starting slowly, Field ran in three second half tries to secure the victory, as they backed up last week’s result, leaving them third, as the Bees remain bottom.
Yet it was Bradford that started the better, a try a piece from Adam Malthouse and Brett Mitchell gave the Bees a 12 point lead after 25 minutes.
But ‘Field responded and would go into half time in front. Kicking for the corner, Field won the lineout and drove home to score through Nick Sharpe.
Just six minutes later Field scored again as Gavin Rhodes crossed the whitewash, allowing Tom Hodson to convert both tries into a half-time lead.
As Bradford had Mitchell yellow carded, both sides exchanged penalties, adding to their tallies, but it would be Bradford’s last points of the day.
The boot of Hodson extended Field’s lead, as he superbly converted a penalty from halfway, giving Field a five point lead.
But victory was secured as ‘Field scored three tries in the last 15 minutes. Substitute Giles Hetherington scored as Field really asserted their dominance with fast-flowing rugby.
This was followed by Ben Morrill, as ‘the Beast’ forced his way through the Bees defence, to break clear and run in under the sticks.
On the stroke of full-time, Field completed their scoring for the afternoon as Howard Hanks wrapped up proceedings, in a confident performance.
‘Field will go into next week’s game with plenty of confidence when they play Burnage, who have also won both of their opening games.
