HRUFC UNDER 13s MATCH REPORT – 19TH SEPTEMBER 2013

By Liam Hammond

Huddersfield U13s 5 – Middlesbrough 0

Huddersfield secured a hard fought victory against a highly organised Middlesbrough unit, in a match hampered by poor playing conditions.

The only score of the game came from Huddersfield No.8 Leighton Davis who broke numerous Middlesbrough tackles whilst driving his way to the try line.

The score proved to be a highlight in a match which turned out to be a dogged affair, with both teams playing tight to the ruck in an attempt to counter deteriorating playing conditions.

Middlesbrough began the first half the stronger team, securing dominance at break down and forcing Huddersfield to play on the back foot.

Huddersfield’s awakening in the first half was sparked by James Hinchcliffe who with some hard tackling and steals at the ruck, sparked his team into life.

Twenty minutes into the first half Huddersfield utilised an attacking scrum to move into the Middlesbrough twenty two. Number 8 Leighton Davis drove unrelentingly at the Middlesbrough line, breaking several tackles on his way to the try line.

The second half saw playing conditions hampered by extremely high winds and rain. Middlesbrough pressured the Huddersfield line for what seemed like the whole half but could not find a way over the line and with strong defence Huddersfield secured the victory.

Man of the match: Leighton Davis
