Huddersfield Falcons 32
Huddersfield YMCA – 7
Huddersfield’s Falcons scored five tries as they convincingly beat YMCA in the local derby.
In a game that the Falcons dominated, they were unlucky only to be eight points ahead as they shut out the hosts in the first half.
But ‘Field were rewarded for their efforts, as they constantly looked a threat and scored four second half tries to seal the game.
The first try came from Tom Walmsley as ‘Field drove a maul over the line, though William Brian missed with the conversion, he soon converted a penalty to expand ‘Field’s lead.
But it was in the second half that ‘Field really asserted their superiority. As YMCA were unable to handle ‘Field’s fast-flowing expansive rugby, they went further behind as full-back George Hunt scored in the corner.
This was shortly followed by a try from Alex Brook who powered through the home defence to score under the sticks.
Though YMCA did score a consolation through Josh Marshall, they were unable to deal with ‘Field’s wide play, as Ed Birkhead scored twice in the corner, the second of which was expertly converted by Brian, in a mixed day with the boot.
