Three Huddersfield players have been selected for the Yorkshire training squad as the club continues to produce county stars.
The trio of Tom Owen, Alex Battye and Ben Morrill have all been selected as the squad will be scouted before the final selection in April.
Manager Lee Paxman said: “All three players have been working so hard in the gym, on the training park and have all put in great performances this season.
The club has had a number of players represent the county in recent seasons; Gareth Lewis, Nick Sharpe and Chris Johnson have all worn the white rose of Yorkshire.
Both Battye and Owen were brought through the ranks at Huddersfield and were part of the Huddersfield Academy side which won the Yorkshire Cup five years ago.
Paxman said: “Both Alex and Tom came through the same Age Grade team and have both been involved at Lockwood for all of their senior careers.
“Their selection proves that Huddersfield is continuing produce and develop young talent.”
Alongside developing future first team players, ‘Field have blended in their external recruits to the team and brought the best out of them.
Having signed Morrill from Old Brodleians in 2010, the hooker joined Huddersfield after excelling at county level for the Yorkshire under 20’s team. Despite missing all of last season through injury, ‘The Beast’ has had a huge impact on ‘Field’s season so far.
Bringing an incredible physical presence to the side, Morrill continues to impress alongside prop Battye, as Huddersfield are currently second in the National League Three North.
Upon the positive news regarding Yorkshire selection, ‘Field have suffered a blow in the loss of Laurence Sanderson. Laurence is taking a break from rugby for personal reasons and the pending birth of his third child. The prop will be a big loss to the club, but he and wife Neelie will be wished all the best for the future well by everyone at Lockwood Park.
But ‘Field have shown good strength in-depth having rewarded Falcon players with first team opportunities, as the club look to push on and try to seal promotion this season.
