Huddersfield RUFC have announced the capture of highly-rated back rower Adam Malthouse from Bradford & Bingley.
The 22-year-old flanker or No. 8 arrives at Lockwood Park following his recent Player of the Season award at Wagon Lane. Malthouse, whose career also includes spells with Otley, Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Carnegie whilst also featuring for Yorkshire age grade, has been one of the shining lights in a somewhat disappointing season for ‘The Bees’ which ended in relegation.
Despite this, Malthouse managed to get across the white wash on 13 occasions. Huddersfield Head Coach Gareth Lewis is delighted to have finally got his man, who checks in at 6’4 and 17st 9.
“This is fantastic news for the club, Adam is an outstanding acquisition and has put in some very good performances throughout the season. I’ve kept a careful eye on his progress and I’m sure he will fit right in at Huddersfield.
“Adam is a very level headed player and has a great attitude to the game,” Lewis added.
Discussing his move, Malthouse said: “I’m very happy to join the club, I’m impressed with the ambitions the club has and I’m looking forward to meeting the lads and the coaching staff. I want to test myself and the opportunity to play National 2 was too good to turn down.
“I would like to thank Bradford & Bingley for the last two seasons and wish them all the best for the season coming.”
The signing of Malthouse marks the second transfer of the summer at Lockwood Park following the recent capture of Sandal second row forward Austen Thompson.
