Since my short lived and eagerly awaited return to HRUFC (damaged in action after only six games, Mr Baxter please add comment) I have kept the fitness momentum going.
Although absent from the most recent A Team games, my wish to play is most definitely alive. Before I can return and only to avoid further injury to myself, along with two other virgin fresh water swimmers, will attempt to swim the length of Lake Coniston in the Lake District.
I’ve always enjoyed swimming, only after agreeing to the challenge do I fully realise how difficult outdoor swimming is in comparison to the pool.
I took the challenge of swimming the five and a quarter mile pond (6th September) to raise funds for a charity that was formed after the untimely death of my uncle Paul Daisley.
Paul died of bowel cancer, our charity helps with rising awareness of bowel cancer, as it is one of the most treatable of cancers if caught early, promoting screening and helping people remain in their homes rather than have to go to hospice or hospital.
I ask if you would kindly offer what you can to help us to help others by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/dan-smith18 and donating whatever you can.
Thank you in advance!
