IAN CLEAVE

Sadly we advise the death of Ian Cleave former Club and Match Secretary. Aged 74, he had recently suffered ill-health and passed away at home on Saturday 13th June 2015.

Ian’s education was in Huddersfield and then Pocklington school from where he joined the family business in sports equipment, manufacturing footballs at Benjamin Crookes and Cleave Rackets.

After the acquisition of the business by Mitre Sports, Ian opened a sports shoe retailing business in Leeds.

During this time and following his retirement he was involved in the Clubs administration as Club and Match Secretary (1995-2015).

His other sporting interests were with Huddersfield Lawn Tennis & Squash Club and Woodsome Hall Golf Club.

He leaves his wife Rosemary, Son Duncan and Daughter-in-law Gemma.

The Club are indebted to Ian’s many years of work on behalf of the Club and pass condolences to the family.

The funeral arrangements are for a service at Huddersfield Crematorium on Monday 29th June 2015 at 2pm.

The Club flag is being flown at half mast as a mark of respect.
