It was hoped that Trevor Burgin OBE, who is our one remaining veteran from World War 2, would be able to do the honours at the unveiling of the club’s newly modified WW2 memorial this Saturday.
The memorial has been changed to include reference to two former players who made the supreme sacrifice but were missed off when it was produced back in 1946.
Alas although Trevor is still strong in mind he is too frail in body to attend. He currently resides at the Bell House Care Home in Wilshaw with his wife Kath.
He send regards to all friends at the club and best wishes to players in all our teams for the rest of the season.
Should anyone want to contact Trevor they can do so by giving his daughter and son in law Caroyln and John Prescott a ring on 605392.
