Huddersfield RUFC have just completed our second season in National League 2 (North) and unfortunately finished at the bottom of the table in what was an extremely competitive league, where the slightest of errors were savagely punished. But that is what happens with such a good level of sport.

Gareth and Phil have worked tremendously hard all season with our very young squad of players, most of whom have re-signed for this seasons campaign in National League 3 (North).  The season ahead of us will be tough as we renew a number of old local rivalries such as Cleckheaton, Sandal and Morley, in our quest to return to National 2 at the first attempt.

A special mention must go to our Yorkshire U20’s representatives; Chris Bell, Lewis Workman, Lewis Bradley and Danny Granger all of whom played important roles in Yorkshire winning the U20’s County Championship at Twickenham.

Our Falcons have had a great season and are maturing into an excellent team under the guidance of Mike Baggs and Bob Heppleston.  The A Team continued to express their unique rugby style across Europe with an excellent tour to Bucharest (touring is the best!) where a reception at the British Embassy was but one of the highlights.

I’d like to thank our membership for their continued support over the season, there is still a very positive atmosphere at the Club at the moment which is one of the reasons we have managed to retain practically the same squad of players as in National League 2 (North) which I’m sure will hold us in good stead.

Our Age Grade section continues to grow our players of the future and congratulations must go the our Under 14’s team for winning the Yorkshire Cup, for the second successive season, against Morley in a very competitive final.  I’d especially like to thank all the coaches, parents and players of Age Grade for their commitment and enthusiasm.  The Mini and Midi festivals were a joy to behold and it was a pleasure to experience it.  Our “One Rugby Community” appears to be working well with thanks, in no small part, to Paul Sharrock and Tracy Davis for their outstanding contribution to the cause.

As a member, whether playing or non-playing your membership entitles you to attend ALL thirteen (13) home league games next season completely FREE of charge.  Again this year, non-playing members will be issued with a new SEASON TICKET booklet (sponsored by Riasca paper and print).  As a full member you will also receive a Club Handbook and a Membership Card.  A full description of Club Membership entitlements is on the reverse of the Membership Application Form which is enclosed along with a 200 Club Application Forms and a Wooden Spoon (rugby charity) membership form.
