On a very cold, bleak, autumnal afternoon on the Hipperholme Tops, our U10’s took on the might of West & North Yorkshire at the Old Brodleians U10’s Festival.
Ten teams, including ours, competed in a series of round robin matches with a grand final awaiting the 2 most successful teams. Our lads played some scintillating rugby in the group games, beating the likes of Skipton, Cleckheaton & Wharfdale – considering that it’s very early in the season and the boys are playing continuous rugby for the first time (with the added challenges of learning about the breakdown and set pieces), the standard was very high.
After three wins and a draw in the group games, we came up against Ilkley in the final who were highly fancied. A very tough defensive match ensued and at the end it was left at one try a piece – it was then decided that the spoils should be shared and we’d be joint champions.
We’d like to congratulate the boys on a wonderful result and look forward to hearing about more success over the coming season.
