This season two first team forwards, Francis Entressengle and Lewis Bradley, have signed up to coach our very talented Under 16 team. Their input is already having a very positive effect on the boys play.
Team manager Simon Anderson describes the impact the pair have made. “Fran and Lewis have been outstanding in terms of their contribution to the under 16`s. We are lucky to have them. The boys have responded to the challenges set by them.
With both Fran and Lewis playing age grade rugby the boys see that there is a clear pathway to senior rugby. At the Hinckley match 9 of the boys where there watching the first team. It is building a real bond which can only benefit the club.
Having won the Yorkshire Cup in 2015 and 2016 the boys are keen to return the cup to Lockwood Park and Fran and Lewis share that goal. We had a good start to the competition beating Roundegians 40-0 in the first round.
Their involvement has lifted the whole group and their time and commitment is fully appreciated. The quality of the coaching has directly led to the recruitment of a number of talented boys from RL academies who want to continue playing rugby all year round.”
Coach Franny says “The U16’s are a pleasure to coach, always eager to get stuck in to attack, defence and set piece work. The impressive win over Roundegians came on the back of great performances from everyone with the team showing real attacking instinct.
Lewis and I are working on implementing structure in their open play attack and giving them a taste of First XV prep and warm up. We have absolutely no doubt that many of these players will be joining the first team in years to come.’
Keep up the good work boys!
