Huddersfield Academy 22-31 York Academy
Our Under 16’s combined with our Under 17 Academy for one final run out at Lockwood Park in preparation for next season.
In a lively and entertaining game they scored four tries with a pair each for Owen Peacock and Joe Summers, including a fine individual effort from inside his own half by Joe. Ethan Myers successfully converted one of them. York scored five, three of which were converted.
The game took place with uncontested scrums throughout because York didn’t have a full front row which meant that the Huddersfield boys missed out on the physical contest they were hoping for in the tight.
Academy coach Mike Baggs was happy with the overall performance. He commented that trying to give so many lads game time meant he had to make many changes during the course of the match. This in turn made it difficult to establish meaningful patterns of play.
Genial referee Mike Dickenson had an excellent game as usual keeping play flowing and showing great empathy. Huge thanks go to him for all his efforts on behalf of our Age Grade this season.
