Sheffield 10 – Huddersfield 22
On their third trip to Abbeydale this season Huddersfield produced another solid win in a repeat of their pre-Christmas Yorkshire Cup semi-final fixture. In their first league game of 2019 they adapted well in each half to the challenges produced by the gale force wind. They controlled possession superbly in the first half with Sheffield scoring against the run of play. Jake Haynes finished off some great play to pull Field level before Sheffield scored again to go in at half time10-5 up. However the second half was all Huddersfield as they upped the ante and continued to wear the opposition down. Skipper Leighton Davis scored a superb try to draw level and set the tone for the second half. Further tries from Alex Lee and Joe Summers plus a conversion from Ethan Myers sealed the win to make it four wins from four against their South Yorkshire opponents this season and two from two in the league.
Man of match – jointly awarded to Leighton Davis and Ethan Myers
