PLANS TO CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY AFOOT

In September 1969 Huddersfield RUFC became the birthplace of Mini and Junior rugby at club level. It was the brainchild of Bob Lumley and Martin Noble, two fathers whose sons were in the first cohort of young players to participate. From humble beginnings it took off to become a worldwide phenomenon offering the chance to take up the game to millions of youngsters who didn’t attend schools where rugby union was played.

Next season HRUFC is planning to mark the ‘Golden Jubilee’ of the occasion with a number of special events the first of which will take place at our Age Grade registration Sunday in early September. Chairman Mark Birch recently called together former Age Grade chairman to discuss some preliminary ideas.
