After a 15-a piece draw with Otley last time out, Huddersfield RUFC take on Sedgley Park who lay joint-second in the table after wins against Preston Grasshoppers and Wharfedale.
The visitors come to the 3pm kick-off at Lockwood Park on Saturday with a 100% record, whilst Field will look for their first victory of the season against a very tough opponent, however, captain Dickie Piper makes a welcome return to the side this weekend.
Tor Borrowdale is absent from the squad after featuring last week however Yorkshire scrum-half Jack Maplesden retains his place in the side.
Head-coach Gareth Lewis knows his side will not be in for an easy ride come Saturday afternoon saying; “Sedgley are always one of the top sides in the competition and have a good start once again.” Adding “They also have Scott Barrow as their new head-coach, who I know well from our Yorkshire Carnegie Connection.”
Although coming away with a draw, Lewis found positives in his sides result last week in Otley and has belief that his side are in a positive spirit despite drawing their last two games “There was plenty to take from last weeks draw at Otley and we’ve had an excellent weeks training.”
However, Field have not shown their best so far, and the attitudes of Lewis’ players will need to be at their peak, something Lewis believes is already apparent “It will certainly require our best performance of the season to beat them on Saturday. We are building momentum week on week now and the lads are very excited to have a good crack at them this week.”
