Huddersfield RUFC look to claim the first win of their season against Lancashire side Fylde on Saturday.
After 3 games, Field sit second from the bottom of the table with two draws and a loss, although all games have included positive and clinical play.
They visit Fylde who currently are climbing high at 3rd in the league, and have proved to be an attacking threat so far this season. In the 3 games played, Fylde have mustered up 108 points, the highest of any team in the league so far.
However, head coach Gareth Lewis believes his team can cause an upset, “They’ve had a good start and I believe they will be up there at the end of the season. Clearly this puts us as underdogs.”
Last season, Huddersfield produced an inspired display to beat Fylde 45-33 at Lockwood Park, and Lewis’s men will be looking to produce the spoils again to create some momentum going into the autumn.
Fylde’s attacking threat appears to come in the form of their pacey wingers, last week Tom Grimes managed to secure 2 tries, whilst Connor Wilkinson, who scored a spectacular try after a 40m sprint will be another name to look out for.
After a slow start, Lewis believes his team have more to prove, “In rugby circles many people have written us off, however with a 10% improvement I believe we can cause problems for anyone in the league”.
