Charlie Morgan – A Background on our New Signing
Charlie Morgan is the latest player to join us here at Huddersfield RUFC. Operating at Fly Half or as a Full Back, Charlie comes to us after a spell in New Zealand with Eden RFC and it is our pleasure to welcome him to the club.
The 23 year-old arrived back in England earlier this week and will be hoping to cap it off with a positive display for the First XV today. Charlie has plenty of local experience having previously represented both Ilkley RFC and Harrogate RUFC, and he’s excited to be back playing rugby on home soil for Field after his time on the other side of the globe.
“I’ve always admired Huddersfield as a great club and I’m looking forward to playing for a team with clear ambition” he commented.
Certainly not lacking in ambition himself having pursued his rugby career in Oceania, he’ll be hoping he can add some healthy competition and quality to our backs.
Head Coach Gareth Lewis has expressed his satisfaction at getting Charlie to the club, in a move he feels will benefit the balance of the squad as whole.
“Charles will add competition and depth to our back line. He is extremely motivated to help improve the team and arrives on the back of a good season in New Zealand”.
His displays in New Zealand didn’t go unnoticed, as Charlie gained recognition for his performances at Eden by receiving a call up to the Auckland Colts squad during his time over there.
Charlie also has experience of competing at a high standard of Rugby Union back at home, having represented both Yorkshires Under 18 and Under 20 sides before his spell abroad, and brings undoubted quality to the club given his career resume so far.
We hope to see him in action soon and helping the team to climb up the National II North table. Welcome Charlie!
