It has been a really strong season for the under 8’s
The season started with some major coaching changes and restructure which saw the introduction of a new head coach and a specialist attack coach. As well as keeping the squad that moved up from the under 7’s our numbers continued to increase throughout the season, all of whom are excellent new additions to the squad.

This season, we started to develop core exercise techniques and conditioning, including introducing the RFU approved Animal positions and warm ups.

With the help of Gareth, our attack coach, we started to develop lines of attack, methods of drawing attackers and our passing skills. Dave, Jimmy and Nick worked on support play, defence speed and staying onside. Towards the end of the season we started to introduce tackle techniques and safe body positions in preparation for the season ahead when we move away from tag rugby. We have also introduced various wrestling exercises to get the squad used to contact and develop core strength.
From a performance view point we have had some excellent games this year, dominating most of our opponents in both attack and defence. Whilst the unfortunate weather and other events brought this season to a premature end, we were all really impressed at the speed of development and also the continuous conduct of our players. They truly embrace the core values.
Most of all we had tremendous fun, even in the rain and mud!
Thank you once again to all the parents who continue to support your children and us as a team. With your exceptional hard work we have managed to raise enough funds for a portable shelter and also new shirts for next season for the team.
Thank you again
Simon, Tamsin, Jimmy, Dave, Gareth, Nick
