HRUFC U6’s
It was an exciting start to the 2019/2020 season with a good size squad across the ages of 4/5/6 coming together for the first time.
Michael, Wayne & Sally who started the season were quickly joined by Ben, Jon & Jamie allowing the U6’s & U7’s to train in their own age groups while retaining a close & beneficial link between the 2 teams.
The team trained well together focusing on passing, catching & general fitness. Games like Animal Walks (angry Gorillas always seemed to get the loudest response), & Scarecrow Tig always went down well but nothing beat the end of training game of Bull-Dogs.
Along with training it was great to get to know the players & their parents/carers & even on the coldest (or wettest day) we always enjoyed a good turnout. It was fantastic to see so many of the team coming in to the clubhouse on home game days for dinner. Even better, the team soon started sitting at their own table up & kicking their adults to the bar.
The final training session before Christmas sticks out as a high point when the U6 & U7’s all came into the clubhouse after training & got a present off Santa’s helpers (the coaching team). The team all seemed genuinely happy with their personalised boot bags & quickly created a new game of hit the younger sibling/coach/parent/each other with them!!!
While this season was cut short by events out of anyone’s control (firstly some shocking weather & then by Covid19) I really hope the team enjoyed their time training & getting to know each other.
I know the coaching team is looking forward to seeing everyone back for the 2020/2021 season & can’t wait for those U6’s who will be moving up into the U7’s to start playing their first games.
All the very best from Ben, Jon & Jamie.
