KEN HOYLE 1929-2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Hoyle who died peacefully in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary on 13th January with his son Richard by his side.
Ken was chairman of HRUFC for eight years steering the club through the move from Waterloo to Lockwood Park. He was one of the key figures that helped to make Huddersfield the successful club it has become in the 21st century. After stepping down as chairman he continued to work as Bar Chairman, using his professional expertise as a former pub landlord and later as a manager at Wards Brewery and lecturer in licencing law to benefit the club. Ken was also a team captain in the bowling section and was made Honorary Life Member of the section when he stopped playing. Throughout his life he was a leading light on the local amateur dramatic scene continuing to perform in plays and musicals well into his eighties. He was also Godfather to former first team rugby captain Nick Sharpe.
Ken will be remembered with affection as a man of character with a great sense of humour and the club would like to pass on condolences to his family and friends.
