It is with regret that we report that former First XV scrum half David Grime passed away in the early hours of today, aged 71. He’d had a diagnosis of dementia around 5 years ago and had deteriorated recently, passing away peacefully while in his sleep.
David played for Huddersfield First XV in the early 1980’s. Following his playing days he spent many years involved in coaching the mini’s and juniors on Sunday mornings. David then went on to referee both open age rugby on Saturdays and on Sundays, and was a member of the Yorkshire Federation of Referees.
During his playing days he played scrum half for Fylde RFC for a number of years in the late 60’s and early 70’s and was a life member of Fylde RFC, returning over the years for a number of reunions.
After a brief hiatus from rugby living on the south coast for a number of years his family moved to Huddersfield in 1979 where he took up rugby again.
The Club would like to pass our condolences to David’s family and friends.
