We welcome the announcement by the Prime Minister that grassroots team sports including community rugby can return from 29th March.
We will await RFU Guidance as they work with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport on Covid protocols for the community game, including the format of rugby that will be permitted in return to play.
From a Lockwood Park and HRUFC perspective, it means we can start planning to re-open. As a start we will open again from Monday 29th March for pitch use only. We are still to hear from the RFU and other sports bodies on what that will look like, however that’s the starting point for the use of the facilities.
The club is reviewing the road map detailed by the government and will make further announcements about returning to a full opening shortly. However, we expect that this means that the four club Ventur Cup competition in which HRUFC is scheduled to participate could get the green light for play in May. Head Coach Gaz Lewis is hopeful that at least a good four weeks of training will be possible prior to commencement. Womes’s and Girls traing will re-start on Tuesday 30th March. Age Grade training is due to recommence from Wednesday 31st March.
The Club office remains closed and we will continue to use remote methods wherever necessary to work and communicate with Members. As the guidance on working from home is not likely to change until June, our office team will still not be in the office full time so please continue to expect to have to leave a message for a call back.
