MEMBERSHIP 2021-22
Dear Member,
As we are now approaching the lifting of the COVID-19 restrictions, we are cautiously optimistic about the return to rugby for the 2021-22 season. It will be fantastic to get back to playing and watching the sport we love. It could be a special year.
This will be the last season played in the current National 2 format. The 2022-23 season will introduce a three league system of 14 teams at this level (National 2 North, Central and South), thus making the leagues more regional. As a result, there will be no relegation from National 2 North this coming season.
Gareth (Gaz) Lewis will continue as Head Coach, Dickie Piper and Lewis Bradley will also continue as Captain and Vice-Captain respectively. Long-serving stalwart, Nick Sharpe, has agreed to be Club Captain and we have just confirmed our new attack coach, former Lancashire U20 attack coach, Neil Ryan.
The Falcons will be skippered by Leighton Davis and the A-Teams dynamic duo of George Hinchliff and Steve Parry will continue their roles for the new season.
The Academy has a new coach in Michael Stancliffe and the squad will be managed by Age Grade Chair, Tracy Davis. A special thank you must go to Make Baggs for his many years of service to the Club.
For the first time in many years, we have a Women and Girls section which has been successfully started by Jess Bunyard. Her commitment and enthusiasm is second to none and will, I’m sure, bear many fruits.
The Age Grade 50 year celebrations were unfortunately cut short at the end of the 2019-20 season. However, they are holding a “Summer Camp” on pitch 1 at the end of July, as they had planned 2 years ago. Tracy Davis has agreed to continue as Age Grade Chair to ensure continuity for what promises to be a great season ahead.
As I am sure you will see upon your return to the Club, a tremendous amount of effort has been made in keeping the grounds and property looking appealing to the visitor. Much of this work has been done by the Lockwood Volunteers (LoVo’s). If you wish to join them, please let your President Billy know.
The pitches maintained by Mark, have been improved by our purchase of a Verti-Drain machine which has already proved its worth. The wall surrounding the memorial garden has been superbly completed by Martin. Stuart, our unshakable General Manager, has worked tirelessly for the Club, keeping everything ticking over in readiness for the grand re-opening. Along with Nicola and Anisa, they make a really effective team.
Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have tried to keep you informed of our situation. I can tell you that the Club is in reasonable shape and has survived the pandemic with the support of a number of grants and loans (thanks Terry and Dereck), superb members donations as well as government schemes. A huge thank you to all involved, it really has kept us afloat.
Last year the support from the membership was tremendous, many of whom paid their “Full” subscriptions to the Club. As a thank you, the Club will put 20% of last seasons membership onto their membership cards, upon the payment of this year’s subscription. For obvious reasons, we have kept the membership fees the same as last year.

As always, our members are the lifeblood of our Club, so please help by paying your subscriptions as soon as possible.
