The boys played their first game of the season against a very well organised Yarnbury team, a team playing their 4th game of the season. The Under 14s had a number of squad players missing, but all the lads stepped up and put in an impressive performance on a hot day and on an unfamiliar 4G pitch.
After absorbing 10 minutes of constant pressure, the Huddersfield boys settled down and started to play some good rugby, and towards the end of the 2nd quarter scored with James Wood on the end of an impressive piece of play which showed the under 14s moving the ball across the park and supporting well.
The rest of game was closely contested with Yarnbury’s previous match experience and organisation telling in the final 5-25 scoreline.
All in all a very encouraging start to the season, with the established players rising to the challenge and all the newer players showing both determination and potential.
