“You learn more from a loss than a win”. I don’t know who said it but they are dead right. Semi-finalists from last year’s aborted Yorkshire Cup turned up today with a squad of 23 primed for a good day.
We started with 15 with 2 last minute withdrawals due to illness. Hard to believe from a squad size of 27 but it shows the impact that illness and injury can have.
HRUFC put up a valiant performance in the first half with the score 5-21 at the break. 3 injuries in the second half left us with 3 of their players on our team and with no reserves we simply ran out of power coming down to a 5-55 loss.
What did we learn? We learnt the importance of never giving up and sticking to what we have trained on to ensure we keep the score down as low as we can.
Next week we have Ilkley in the cup. 8 players are expected back and I have every confidence that we will bounce back with a massive performance.
