It is always exciting waiting for the draw of the next round of the Yorkshire Cup. For the 3rd round excitement quickly turned to dismay when we got Beverley who had stuffed us 5-55 the week before!
What a difference coaching, commitment and confidence can make as today our lads believed they could actually win and they very nearly did. A special thanks must go to Joe Shiel and Bill Duncan for making the coaching difference.
Down 0-12 at half time the spirits were still high and a magnificent second half saw us claw it back to 12-17 with tries from Will Heath and Ben Foster. Beverley have only conceded 35 points this year, 17 of which have been from us.
The great news is that courtesy of a draw system which is not dissimilar in complexity to cricket’s Duckworth Lewis system we are still in the main cup and with 2 wins in our remaining games we could still make the final.
Based on today’s performance a betting man wouldn’t back against us.
Onwards and upwards.
