Sunday saw the first run out for the U13s after Christmas but actually playing on an U13 pitch and to U13 laws. It was with much anticipation and a little trepidation that we started against a strong Harrogate team. The 1st quarter was very even, with both teams scoring 1 try each. The quality of the rugby was very high with both teams looking to move the ball to the sides of the pitch with only the occasional handling errors. The 2nd quarter Harrogate started quickly scoring 2 tries in succession as the new Huddersfield team settled. However, once they had, they kept the Harrogate team at bay and scored an excellent team try right on half time. The third quarter was a mirror of the 2nd, this time Huddersfield taking the lead, dominating position and possession allowing a late score to even up the game. Through the last quarter both teams worked very hard to score the winning try, Harrogate showing great character to keep out the attacking threat of several Huddersfield players. It was a great game played in a great spirit both on and off the pitch. I hope it sets the tone for the rest of the season.
