On glorious early Saturday morning the U11’s Rabble embarked on a Hawaiian themed tour to Darlington. Once again Lindsay Westmorland put a truly memorable tour together. The parents and kids embraced the Hawaiian theme as all don classic magnum pi shirts, grass skirts, coconut bras and long flowing hair and that was just the men. The journey to the north took just under 2hrs, with a planned stop at the adventure playground ‘Airtrail’. The rabble embraced the dazzling heights of the playground as they ventured up the levels showing no fear.
With feet firmly back on the ground the rabble gathered and had a quick bite to eat and moved on to their venue of accommodation and celebration for the evening. Facilities were well used and the bar was able to support much needed rest bite for parents from over excited and sugar fuelled kids. As the kids celebrated and had Bantz, It was also a sad occasion as for one of our players it was her last year with the rabble. Both mum and dad who are as much part of the team as Emily it was an emotional time for all as we recalled memories. Awards were handed out but the real reward was celebrating the return to touring together!
The Sunday saw a wet start to the day but nothing dampened the spirits as all players who took to the field wearing their tour shirts were ready to strut their stuff. As the day progressed the sun pierced and dispersed the dark clouds as the rabble took to the field. The Huddersfield teams held their heads high and displayed some amazing defence and attacking rugby against teams that sported older and sizable players for their age grade. Not once did the teams stop, giving a 100% in every game and left everything on the pitch at full time. A true credit to the age grade pathway at Lockwood Park that continues to produce outstanding rugby players at all levels.
As the tournament drew to a close the parents and players climbed aboard the Venga bus home. A big thank you from all the coaches to the parents who made this an amazing return to touring and we all look forward to making more memories whether it’s on or off the field or doing karaoke on the bus home!
