With GCSEs top of everyone’s calendar at U16 it was decided this year to opt for a one day early tour. On Sunday 20th March the squad clambered onto the bus and headed off to the scene of where it all began at U6s; Scarbrorough! At HRFUC we celebrate our pitches and facilities, it is when you arrive at Scarborough that you are reminded that there are one or two out there who have better than us. Thankfully we don’t have the same wind which was as ever, howling and bitter!
To say we got a warm welcome is an understatement. The Scarborough lads have struggled all year to get fixtures with 3 of their Yorkshire Cup matches cancelled because of no shows. They are a fabulous bunch of lads but sadly their lack of match experience led to HRUFC running up a 0-50 win. We have been touring now for 10 years and it has been a great experience watching the boys grown into young men. The singing has dropped quite a few octaves and the lyrics advanced a little! We have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it and are now ready for the big move to Academy and ultimately Senior rugby.
