This weekend saw the inaugural LockFest Beer & music festival at Lockwood Park. The brainchild of Treasurer Terry Savage, the weekend was enjoyed by around 2000 people over the weekend, who were entertained by some great bands and enjoyed sampling ale from around the country.
The weather was glorious and the intimate setting of the memorial gardens were a perfect setting for the weekend.
There were 40 beers from around the UK to sample thanks to Ian Armitage and Gareth Shaw for organising and running over the weekend. There was also a Lager, Cider, Prosecco and spirits bar. Food was provided by Oi Dumplings and Sons of the North.
Attendees were entertained by Radioactive, Highway 62 (including our own Age Grade Mum Claire Helm) and Storm on Friday evening. An eclectic mix of bands entertained the crowds on Saturday with James O’Hara Blues Band, Linthwaite Brass Band, Rod Mason’s Elements, Jade Harris & Adrian Ingram Band and Hybrid taking to the stage. The festival was drawn to a close on Sunday by Eleven18 and Psychoslinkys.
A special thanks to all of the hard-working volunteers, without whom we wouldn’t have been able to run the event: Terry Savage, Mark Birch, Joanna Birch, Bohdan Santar, Heather Santar, Roman Santar, Tracy Davis, Mark Davis, Brian Stephenson, Ann Stephenson, Jerry Smith, Duncan Cleave, Chris Duffy, James Lockwood, Tom Swift, William Pinkney, Chris Evans, Michael Fort, Paul Sharrock, Joe Shiel, Kian Shiel, Bill Duncombe, Richard Sykes, John Lockwood, Clive Berry, Angela Berry, Dereck Tasker, Gareth Tinker, Graham Lewis, Anisa Turner and Billy Marr.
