Home grown talent will lead the revitalised Development team this coming season
John Sedgwick the 22 year old trainee nuclear scientist and top musician will be captain. The big carrying number eight has been at the club since he was 13 years old. Having had a taste of first team experience last year John has further aspirations to play National League rugby again this term.
Billy Summers is a 19 year old architectural assistant who will be Vice Captain to take up the reins when John is stepping up. Billy has been at the club since aged 12. The County Capped scrum half represented Yorkshire through several age grades and had a spell with Yorkshire Carnegie playing against Premiership Clubs. Billy is keen to further develop his talents with a view to pushing into the first team.
Development team Coach Darren Neilly has backed the pair to lead by example with their aspirations to play national league rugby.
“These two lads emphasise just what the development team is hoping to achieve. We are pushing our young home grown talent and supporting these lads to break into the first team. Our first pre-season session had over 40 players down so competition will be fierce for all our teams at the club. The club has invested heavily in the coaching and support structure to get the most out of players and give everyone a chance at succeeding in National League rugby. It’s an exciting time to be both a player and coach at the club.”
