Irish shines at Winger! Next – Fly Half
Great defence from the lads in what was a physical game. Thinking 3’s…..can’t be much there, but was very impressed with the setup Moortown brought. Moortown who obviously enjoy playing rugby at this level and play for the beers afterwards showed why they were top of the league. Keeping them out was the challenge!
Falcons kept a clean sheet when several times Moortown looked to be capitalising on Falcons mistakes. Lineouts provided to be a gaining ground and a solid scrum to play off gave the Falcons the much needed platforms to build phases off leading to scores.
Well worked scores came from good hands and clean breaks. Moortown working hard to cover but the support the Falcons needed was there to finish off.
Unfortunately, our influential winger Zak Bendich injured his ankle and had to hop off. With no backline to replace, it was left down to the coach to make the executive decision and sacrifice a forward to cover wing! Who on the forwards bench could fill the shoes of a winger…..pace, power, hands, kicking, agility and a short size of less than large. Balls to that I’m having a go!
Billy Summers immediately identified the talent on the wing and opted for Heineken….the perfect box kick followed but what could only be described as a scene from Jumanji as a limping rhino came round the side of the ruck to put in one of the most laboured chases. As all good wingers do Irish forced the winger to step back inside to be mauled by Charlie and Zander. Having avoided to make a tackle…Irish looked up and said balls to that, I ain’t chasing those all day….. Sham get yourself on! Never again!
The game played out in a very physical affair with all players putting their bodies on the line with some super hits.
17-0, clean sheet.
Big effort from all, lads putting on the shirt to represent the club with pride.
