First off, many thanks to our incredible ground staff. There weren’t many matches played today in Yorkshire and our pitch was superb. We have always had great games against Moortown and today was no different.
As ever we started like a 1973 Skoda with plenty of stuttering and blustering coupled with the inevitable long list of stupid penalties.
We managed to keep them out and 25 minutes in managed to get hold of the ball which we converted to 3 points which is how we entered the interval.
All the drama was in the second half or 3rd quarter as we never got to the end. HRUFC started strongly with a try from Alexander Exley. What followed couldn’t be scripted with Harry Thomason giving us a full somersault, Alfie Armitage doing some dental work on a Moortown player and wait for it; Alec Kay wiping out Mike the referee which resulted in a multiple finger dislocation. The great news is that Mike has been mended and isn’t pressing charges 😂
The match was abandoned with 15 to go. HRUFC claimed an 8-0 victory and a re-match is very much on the cards before the end of the season!
