The Clubs Annual Dinner which will be held on Friday 24th February 2022 at 7pm in the Waterloo Suite. Members and non-members welcome.
The night will be a celebration of Huddersfield Sport. The special guest speakers will be Huddersfield Town heroes Andy Booth and Marcus Stewart. Huddersfield Giants legend Danny Brough will be taking part in a question and answer session. Guests will also be entertained by comedian Martin Gold.
The evening will raise money for the Darby Rimmer Foundation with all profits from the evening going to the charity. The charity was set up to create awareness of MND, to fund and assist research into the illness with the quest of finding a cure for the illness, to raise funds and offer grants to those with MND, as well as creating a network to help provide information and emotional support network for those diagnosed with the disease. The ticket price includes a donation towards the charity and funds raised from the raffle and auction will go towards fighting MND.
Huddersfield born Andy Booth made 393 appearances in two spells for Huddersfield Town scoring 134 goals as well as playing for Sheffield Wednesday and Tottenham Hotspur. He is currently Huddersfield Town’s ambassador.
Marcus Stewart is the dad of current Huddersfield RUFC wingers Kian and Finlay Stewart. He scored 53 goals in 133 appearances for Huddersfield Town and has also appeared for Bristol Rovers, Sunderland, Ipswich Town, Bristol City, Preston North End, Yeovil and Exeter. He is the current Head of Player Development at Yeovil Town.
Danny Brough is a Scottish international rugby league player who played for Huddersfield Giants for eight years making 247 appearances and amassing 1815 points. He has also played for Dewsbury Rams, York City Knights, Hull FC, Wakefield Trinity and Bradford Bulls. At the end of the 2013 Super League season, Brough won the Man of Steel award for his excellent performances throughout the season.
Comedian Martin Gold is a regular on the after-dinner circuit. Martin started his career at the Leeds City Varieties Music Hall at the age of 11, when he was a finalist in the Yorkshire Evening Post talent competition. Martin has also appeared on numerous television programmes.
The evening is a black-tie event and includes a four-course meal. The meal consists of classic minestrone soup with crusty bread and butter, roasted pork loin with fennel, garlic and rosemary and pan gravy served with potatoes and vegetables, baked white and dark chocolate cheesecake followed by Artisan cheese and biscuits with chutney, plus Fairtrade filter coffee.
