Message from John Inverdale – National League Review Show

On the eve of a new season, this is just a quick note to wish everyone involved in our four National Leagues, the best of luck on and off the field – but especially to encourage you all to become more proactive and supportive of the National League Review.

The weekly 15-minute show covering all our matches massively  improved in quality over the last two seasons, but that wasn’t reflected in an uptake of viewers.  The main criticism was that it was too long -so…..

As from this weekend, there will be four 90-second review shows available – one for each league.  No need to wade through tries that aren’t relevant to you! Your league is there in a compact bite-sized chunk, available across all platforms including Facebook and Instagram.

This is really important for the profile of the National Leagues, so I’d ask everyone to publicise this far and wide – tell your players especially.  Put it in your club website, in the programme, mention it at pre-match lunches.  If we can get around 50,000 weekly views, we have a product that is appealing to sponsors, and then we can really start marketing our game to a wider market.

Thanks for all your help in this.  It really is important for the growth of the sport at our level.

Rugby is back.  I hope the World Cup helps put a lot of money behind all our bars.  Autumn beckons.  Did we skip summer?

Best wishes
