Not quite the champagne and Tetleys from last week but as they say “A win is a win!”
20 minutes into the first half Amos Stancliffe ran in a great individual try which was converted by his amigo Thomas Scott. A consolation penalty from Otley brought us to half time 7-3 ahead.
The half time break did nothing for us and we started the second session in the same lacklustre way that we finished the first.
Then Henry Parkin decided to take the game by the scruff of the neck and bulldozed his way through 3 players for another try. Amos wanted more and he followed with his second to take us to 17-3 ahead.
That appeared to be enough for our boys who decided to go to sleep allowing Otley a penalty and try to make it 17-13.
The good news is that they then woke up and Henry Parkin made it 2 tries in the final minute giving us a 24-13 win with Thomas’s conversion.
A bonus point for 4 tries and a second one for lending Otley a player. Thanks Josh Cooke and Josh Maughan.
A week off next week and then we have Pontefract which will be a good battle.
