Age Grade Round Up

MATCH REPORT: HRUFC vs’ Wetherby Colts

Today’s hero was not a player it was the groundsman! With almost every other game in Yorkshire off today we must give an our thanks to the grounds team.

In our last trip out we managed to start hard and fast. Today normal service resumed with Wetherby finding easy gaps in our defence to give them an easy 0-5 start. Wakey, wakey boys! 10 minutes later the ever reliable Lance Barker slotted a penalty which was followed shortly afterwards with an Amos Stancliffe try. With Lance’s conversion we made it to half time 10-5 up.

The second half started like the first and Wetherby scored to make it 10-12. With 10 minutes to go they scored again leaving is 10-19 behind. Okay, here we go, HRUFC Colts always turn it around. Trust me they tried everything, 2 touchdowns held up and pretty much every bit of luck falling to Wetherby. In the final minute Frankie Kilroy got it over the line and Lance converted to give a finishing score of 17-19. Frankie’s try gave us a losing bonus point which may prove crucial come the end of the season. WPL next week lads. Please, please start fast!!

Penalties: 1 Lance Barker

Tries: Amos Stancliffe and Frankie Kilroy

Conversions: 2 Lance Barker

Good to be back after 3 weeks without a game and while at times it was evident the boys had missed a few weeks ultimately they came out victors against Selby in a close match where the lead changed hands several times. The Huddersfield boys had just enough in the 2nd half to finish the stronger of the two and secure a hard fought 32- 26 win.

  • A small number of our players completed the Beaumont Park Junior Park Run on Sunday morning. Jett finished 1st , Eddie 3rd and George T 5th – well done to all! #fasterhigherstronger
  • We enjoyed our Christmas party on Sunday after a tough encounter with our good friends from Harrogate. Players were given a Christmas gift from Santa, but were made to work for it, by jackaling their gift from the coaches! Much merriment followed including human snowmen, blow-up antlers and ultimate chocolate scoffing!
  • Next Saturday, in partnership with the u10’s, we are so excited to be providing the 1st XV with a Guard of Honour for their game against Lymm! This is really special for our youngsters who look up the first team as their heroes and idols!! We hope to be able to demonstrate our skills on the pitch too at half-time! #inspiration #aspiration
