Welcome to the Huddersfield RUFC Firebirds, a girls’ rugby programme built on energy, ambition, teamwork, and community.
The HRUFC Firebirds are more than just a rugby team. We are creating an environment where girls can grow in confidence, develop friendships, challenge themselves, and become part of something special, both on and off the field.
At the Huddersfield RUFC Firebirds, we believe rugby is for everyone. Whether you are completely new to the game or already have experience, every girl is welcomed, supported, and encouraged to thrive in a positive and inclusive environment.

What We Stand For
The Firebirds were created with a vision to help grow and change the landscape of girls’ rugby across Kirklees and the wider Yorkshire community.
Our goal is to provide girls with opportunities to:
Build confidence and resilience
Learn teamwork, leadership, and respect
Develop rugby skills in a fun and supportive environment
Create lasting friendships
Stay active and enjoy being part of a team
Inspire the next generation of girls rugby players
The Firebirds are proud to be part of the wider Huddersfield RUFC family, working closely with the women’s section, Huddersfield RUFC Phoenix, to help create a pathway for girls’ rugby within the club.
Why Join the Firebirds?
Joining the Firebirds means becoming part of a team that supports one another and celebrates every achievement together, big or small.
Our coaches are passionate about helping every player improve, enjoy rugby, and feel valued within the squad. Training sessions focus on skill development, teamwork, confidence building, and, most importantly, having fun.
Whether your daughter wants to try rugby for the first time, build confidence, make friends, or develop into a future senior player, the Firebirds provide the perfect place to start that journey.
More Than Rugby
The Firebirds are about more than what happens on matchdays. We are building a culture centred around community, positivity, enjoyment, and belonging.
From training nights and festivals to team socials and community projects, the girls are constantly creating memories and representing the values of Huddersfield RUFC with pride.
