Welcome to HRUFC’s U8’s
The U8’s Team is for any child, regardless of gender, heritage or background who is in year 3 of junior school. Anyone is welcome to come down and give rugby a go, no previous experience is necessary. The season runs from September to April/May and it’s never too late to join in & give it a go.
U8’s is the first time teams start to play matches (non-contact tag rugby) as well as training and will play home and away friendly games against other U8 local teams throughout the season.
Our Commitment:
This Age Grade is all about having fun while developing the basic skills of rugby and the core values of the game:

Our first priority is always to have happy, confident, safe and engaged players. We do this by following the Codes of Practice set out by the England Rugby Football Union for Age Grade Rugby
Please feel free to contact us with any questions you might have.

Registration and Membership
RFU Regulation 15 requires players to be registered annually online each season from U7’s upwards. HRUFC’s policy is to register all players, including U6’s even though there is no requirement to formally register.
We do this on a weekend at the start of the new season. This enables everyone to renew friendships, meet and talk with their team coaches and ask any questions they may have.
1 . Register your child on the RFU Game Management System (GMS). You will either need to login to your existing RFU account if you are renewing or register a new account if you are registering for the first time. You will need to register your child as a player to Huddersfield RUFC. There is a link here to explain how to do this.
2.Download your membership form below and return to gm@huddersfieldrugby.com
3. Make payment by calling the office on 01484 469801 or clicking on one of the links below.

Your Commitment
The commitment of Players their Parents and Guardians is fundamental to a successful and enjoyable rugby experience. That is helped by adhering to the Club’s code of conduct as well as supporting their coaches by following England Rugby’s Values.
Codes of Conduct
We ask all parents and guardians to refresh their awareness of our Codes of Conduct. They are there to encourage you and your children enjoy the great sport of rugby in a safe and healthy manner.

Where to find us
Directions to the HRUFC are shown below.
To find us, enter Lockwood Park go along Brewery Drive heading for the railway viaduct. Drive through the arches and park in the car park on the right-hand side. Walk through the metal gates at the far corner of the car park nearest to those arches. Walk along the path passing the Hockey pitches on your left and you will find our pitch/training ground just outside our white cabin.
Training and Matches
Training takes place Sunday’s at 10am at the club
Home matches will also take place at our club on Sunday’s, kick-off may change slightly to support travel times for the other clubs
Away matches will take place at the hosting club’s grounds. Again, kick-off may change slightly to support our travel.
All training & matches will be organised through the TEAMER app. You will be signed up to this app on joining the club which sends weekly invites out with times/locations included that you can confirm or decline attendance on behalf of your player.
Kit
For training – sports tops, shorts or tracksuits (without zips/toggles that can be caught) are fine.
Boots – with suitable studs (not blades) are best, trainers can be worn for training but they don’t offer the support or grip that boots do and they will get wet and muddy
Gum shields/mouth guards are not required at tag rugby and tend to be a distraction.
We want our players to be comfortable and recommend long sleeved skins/thermals (top and legs), warm hat and gloves suitable for playing rugby in colder weather.
Mandatory for matches:
HRUFC playing top’s will be provided by the club if required.
HRUFC shorts & socks must be worn & are available from our club stockist by following this link.
For our advice and recommendations about items of kit please follow the links:
NO PLAYER WILL BE ADMITTED INTO THE CLUBHOUSE IN RUGBY BOOTS OR SOILED RUGBY CLOTHING
PLEASE NOTE: HRUFC warmly welcomes all visitors to our facilities. In order to keep the club house clean can we remind our visitors that players MUST bring a change of clothes in order to access the bar and food areas. Players in dirty match gear will be refused access to the bar and catering facilities.
Can we also remind our visitors that DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED on any of our pitches. This represents a health risk to all players and Age Grade in particular.
You must return your dog to your car if asked to do so. If you do not comply then you will be reported to the Management Committee who may impose further sanctions.
We hope that you agree these two requests will make your visit to our club more comfortable and enjoyable.
A COVID-19 policy applies to anyone visiting and using the changing, bar and offices at Lockwood Park. Please familiarise yourself with that policy and observe its provisions.
